Tesla is a leading electric vehicle manufacturer seeking a Supplier Industrialization Engineer to join their Supply Chain team. The role involves overseeing critical component development and qualification activities with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality parts for production processes.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, direct and conduct industrialization related activities within the supply chain team
- Develop, Manage, Audit and Improve supplier planning and execution of manufacturing process, assembly techniques and quality controls from the advanced development phase to mass production
- Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between Suppliers and Tesla Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams
- Accountable for supplier audits to ensure their ability to meet part performance, delivery, and reliability expectations
- Track Supplier key metrics like safety stocks and OEE for critical suppliers and products on sustaining programs
- Collaborate with Tesla Design & validation team to define the validation requirement to meet product performance specifications
- Accountable for leading, tracking and improving supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness for new products and design changes
- Guide suppliers in developing exceptionally robust processes and procedures to promote efficient and seamless production of high-quality products
- Drive supplier’s quality issues to ensure they implement robust & sustainable corrective actions and implement lesson learnt for similar product and process
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience and exceptional ability
- 3+ years of assembly plant experience supporting mechanical component manufacturing as Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering role
- In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and inspection
- Experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Capacity Verification / Run at Rate and OEE analysis
- Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities at the management level
- Ability to define and execute a project using project management techniques
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Excellent team building skills in dealing with suppliers, peers and other functional areas
- Strong technical writing ability and an ability to explain complex issues in a concise and plain manner
- Previous experience managing safety critical parts
- An average of 30 - 40% travel, possibly on short notice
- Experience in Vehicle Interior components like Cockpit module, Headliners, Hard trims, Center Consoles or Door Trims is a plus
