Data Engineer/Architect

ICON plc is a world-leading healthcare intelligence and clinical research organization. They are seeking a Data Engineer/Architect to support the design and delivery of a modern, scalable data foundation by building robust, automated data architectures that integrate multiple data sources for reporting and analytics.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement enterprise‑grade data architectures, including data lakes, warehouses, and integration layers
• Build and maintain automated data pipelines for ingesting, validating, transforming, and storing data from multiple sources
• Develop scalable data models and schemas to support consistent metrics, reporting, and analytics
• Establish and apply data standards and quality controls to ensure accuracy, reliability, and repeatability
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data and reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Partner with analytics and visualization teams to ensure data is well‑structured and optimized for downstream use

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering and/or data architecture within complex environments
• Strong experience with SQL, data modeling, and ETL/ELT processes
• Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Proven ability to integrate and harmonize multiple, fragmented data sources
• Working knowledge of data governance, data quality, and security best practices
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
