Labstep, recently acquired by STARLIMS, is a modern platform for R&D aiming to enhance scientific discovery through user-centric software. The Senior Product Manager will lead the product strategy and vision for Labstep, focusing on the transition to an AI-augmented platform while collaborating with a high-velocity agile team.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and communicating a clear product vision and strategy for the ELN platform, ensuring it aligns with overall STARLIMS company goals
- Defining, prioritizing, and managing the product roadmap based on deep market research, customer feedback, and business objectives
- Partnering closely with customers and stakeholders to gather insights, understand laboratory workflows, and validate product decisions
- Translating scientific workflows into actionable, cutting-edge product features—specifically focusing on the opportunities presented by AI
- Collaborating with our Technical Lead to ensure timely and successful product launches, while aligning closely with marketing, customer success, and sales teams
- Monitoring product performance and leveraging data/analytics to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement through iterative feedback cycles
- Representing the Labstep product vision externally, engaging with the scientific community at industry events, and building relationships with partners
Requirements:
- A formal background in science is a must for this role
- You have a degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics) or have spent significant time building software for scientists
- You have native familiarity with laboratory workflows and research processes
- You have proven experience managing complex software products, with a strong understanding of SaaS business models and product lifecycle management
- You believe scientific software should meet the same high design standards as premier consumer applications
- You are a tireless advocate for the user, translating intricate workflows into elegant, friction-free experiences
- You understand what LLMs and modern search capabilities can do, and you know how to design a user experience around them
- You possess a data-driven mindset with experience using analytics to inform product decisions and measure user satisfaction
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- You can 'speak engineer' with your tech lead and just as easily present the platform vision to enterprise stakeholders or external clients
- Prior experience specifically working on an ELN (Electronic Lab Notebook) or LIMS platform
- Experience building advanced search, discovery, or data-visualization tools
