Conduct complex personal property compliance projects and assessment reviews of machinery and equipment for industrial manufacturing, mining, oil & gas, communication, and energy property
Assist with implementation of tax savings recommendations and strategies
Review annual personal property tax returns and reconciliations
Review personal property fixed asset listings for misclassified assets
Review state and local laws, rules, and regulations
Conduct physical inspections of manufacturing, communication, energy, mining, and oil & gas facilities and meet with production managers at client locations
Meet with client financial and accounting personnel to review policies and procedures
Prepare analysis detailing issues and opportunities for property tax savings
Produce and edit reports of findings along with the tax manager to ensure accuracy
Meet with clients to discuss implementation of report of finding and address liabilities
Assist client tax department personnel with personal property filings and changes in methodology
Assist client in filing appeals, amended annual returns and refund requests
Assist in negotiations for assessment reductions before assessing authorities
Represent and manage clients during formal appeals
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Industrial Engineering, or related field, coursework in Appraisal desired
3-5 years’ experience as an Associate Tax Consultant (or similar type of position)
Advanced knowledge of Excel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Valid driver’s license
