Senior Network Engineer

Role Overview

• designs, analyzes, plans and modifies network components supporting customer communication implementation activities
• prepares analyses of short-term and long-term capacity requirements for switching, routing, transmission, and signaling
• conducts SDWAN network design and testing, as well as feasibility and cost studies
• develops standard solutions and establishes the required sequence of network activities
• conducts site growth and expansion evaluations to determine the impact on remote services
• participates in departmental strategy and makes decisions on moderately complex to highly complex technical issues related to project components
• performs work independently, with considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments
• participates in on-call and implementation duties during nights and weekends, as needed
• delivers solutions for multi-platform network connectivity
• optimizes all aspects of the remote network ecosystem, such as performance, resiliency, availability, resource utilization, and innovation
• provides cloud network design, engineering, and administrative support for both physical and virtual networking devices within multi-platform environments
• leverages highly available networking technologies in a heterogeneous environment
• oversees and performs administration, configuration, and monitoring of all network equipment & cloud resources
• supports the elimination of existing datacenter dependencies to enable cloud/fastest-path access
• engineers connectivity solutions for supporting a hybrid cloud strategy
• responsible for building and maintaining robust authentication policies using Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager and Cisco ISE
• develops integrations for Zscaler ZIA with existing firewall stacks and edge infrastructure
• manages high-availability environments across diverse switching and wireless platforms
• participates in the lifecycle of multiple large-scale projects, ensuring high-quality delivery through rigorous Methods of Procedure (MOPs)

Requirements

• BS/BA, preferably in a technical or scientific field or in lieu of BS/BA, 4+ years industry experience + industry certifications
• 4+ years of experience working with SDWAN architecture network designs, implementations, and support
• Network engineering certification such as CCNP, Fortinet NSE or equivalent
• 4+ years of technical network engineering experience, and 3+ years of project leadership experience
• 4+ years of Layer 2/ Layer 3 network architectural design (WAN/Cloud/Data Center) and engineering experience
• 4+ years of experience working with BGP and other WAN technologies
• Strong experience supporting large-scale environments and remote sites
• Experience with Cisco networking equipment
• Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls
• Experience in Site-to-Site VPN technologies
• Knowledge of QoS and network security functions (firewalls, VPN, IPS, etc)
• Ability to manage complex multi-organizational projects
• Experience with implementing and operating software-defined network environments (Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, Meraki etc.)
• Vendor management skills (hardware/software security vendors as well as third party vendors)
• Experience working with Data Center Colocation facilities and virtual network fabric provided by vendors such as Equinix and Mega-Port.
