Leads construction projects/activity planning for assigned geographic area/territory, including long-term planning, estimation, resources, scheduling, and budgeting.
Applies broad expertise to work on projects in multiple disciplines such as civil, electrical, and mechanical construction management with a high degree of knowledge and ability.
Works closely with Project Managers, GC Analysts and GC Supervisors to understand construction targets and identify potential construction projects.
Compiles and interprets internal drawings and relevant data for the scoping processes, renegotiates project scope when needed.
Following start of construction, consults and clarifies technical details for construction crew, Construction Supervisors and Inspectors while assisting with change orders if needed.
Attends job scope walk downs, leads job scope discussions, and attends scoping/50/90 design reviews by Engineering to provide constructability input.
Leads GC portion of formal job walk downs with Project Managers, Engineers, Construction Supervisors and Crews to review the AFC (Issued For Construction) drawings and discuss schedule and target dates.
Monitors construction activities and ensures the construction operations meet the program’s safety, quality, cost, and schedule goals.
Utilizes workload management database, updates any assigned projects, reviews workload analysis reports for action, and participates in the full planning team process.
Works with Project Managers to establish planning/schedule dates for future construction projects.
Works with area leadership to identify expense work that is not resourced and determines whether it is correct to incorporate into GC construction plans.
Provides mentoring and training to Associate, Career and Senior level employees.
Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Construction or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
Job-related experience, 7 years
Ability to travel up to 50 percent of working time
9 years working experience in the field Hydroelectric Engineering or Construction (Desired)
Knowledge of construction in control rooms, mechanical and electrical generator disassembly and reassembly, construction of water conveyance assets, and maintenance practices (Desired)
Working Knowledge Excel (Desired)
Demonstrated abilities in estimated and project tracking (Desired)
Demonstrated knowledge in Hydroelectric Construction (Desired)
Ability to perform cost and project scheduling (Desired)
Knowledge of hydroelectric material / construction / design (Desired)
Capable of overseeing the production of written work instructions for complex projects (Desired)
