Plan, research, design, update, maintain, and communicate engineering design and construction standards for transmission and distribution type and equipment
Ensure compliance of approved material, standards, and procedures through interaction with other departments
Research, analyze, and support uniform and best practices in providing solutions to related line construction and materials issues
Assist in providing technical and application training for Construction Planners and field service, construction, and maintenance personnel
Engineer and design electrical distribution construction standards to ensure reliable, cost-effective, and compliant facilities with applicable US standards and codes
Evaluate and monitor manufacturers’ designs for compliance with specifications and guidelines
Develop and perform field studies of material and construction standards to recommend modifications or replacements
Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate or ability to obtain EIT certificate within 12 months preferred for junior level
Valid motor vehicle operator’s license
Capable of performing field inspections of electrical facilities
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Willing to travel (15% with some overnights)
10+ years of utility experience preferred for senior level
Proficient AutoCAD
Professional Engineering (PE) license required for level IV engineers
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
