Evaluate and advise on AI use cases proposed by the business from an IP/copyright perspective.
Train internal stakeholders on legal issues and considerations relevant to the use of AI.
Track and report on meaningful developments in copyright law and related AI case law; support Company’s IP policy efforts in the US, including as they relate to AI; evaluate and advise business on implications of potential US regulatory and legislative IP developments relevant to DG and its interests.
Support and advise business on IP infringement and enforcement matters, including as they relate to AI.
Advise business on a wide range of sophisticated copyright and related IP matters, including issues related to fair use, chain of title analysis, production clearance, and copyright termination.
Requirements
At least 8 years of relevant, substantive copyright experience
Experience as in-house counsel and/or within entertainment industry highly preferred but not required
Meaningful knowledge of IP considerations related to the use of AI
Previous experience with IP policy matters preferred
BA/BS degree
JD degree from an accredited law school
Admission to at least one state bar
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; and ability to influence and collaborate effectively are essential.
Ability to conceptualize and articulate practical and creative solutions to meet business needs and legal requirements.
Ability to spot and analyze complex issues and devise practical strategies and solutions.
Extensive experience counseling clients at all levels, and proven ability to become a trusted advisor regarding IP issues.
Must be able to prepare, negotiate, and interpret agreements and other legal documents.
Must be able to research legal questions and be able to clearly present complex legal advice in fast-paced environment.
