Development of Technical Documentation: Marine electric distribution or control system drawings; review and analyze preliminary and functional design documentation and/or development of ship system specifications.
Technical Analysis & Support: Review and analyze electrical power loads, alteration impacts, and control systems trouble shooting.
Engineering Services: Provide program support in areas such as specification writing, system design communication, system modeling, formal calculations, ship checks, and technical document preparation, all aligned with drawing standards and marine design best practices.
Research and Development: Plan, design, develop, modify, and evaluate electrical systems, electro-mechanical components, controls, generators, and distribution systems for naval vessels.
Requirements
BS/BSE (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar STEM degree.
Strong understanding of fundamental electrical engineering concepts such as 3-phase AC/DC and AC/AC conversion, control system theory, and electromagnetic interference (EMI).
Ability to apply engineering principles to analyze and solve electrical problems, with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to troubleshooting.
Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software, with the ability to draft detailed, multi-view drawings of systems, assemblies, and products.
Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams, sharing knowledge and collaborating to achieve engineering objectives while instructing others.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to prepare technical reports, collaborate with team members, and present engineering solutions clearly.
Experience with US Navy/MSC/USCG and/or ABS design standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Power Point.
