About this role
Role Overview
Design and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance IBM i system architectures.
Develop infrastructure strategies that support business continuity, disaster recovery, and future growth.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to the IBM i platform.
Install, configure, and maintain IBM i operating systems.
Manage OS upgrades, PTFs, and hardware refresh cycles.
Monitor and oversee system performance, capacity planning, and tuning.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
Implement and maintain backup and recovery procedures using BRMS.
Ensure high availability and reliability of IBM i systems.
Plan, organize, and implement technical projects.
Implement and maintain security policies, user access controls, and audit procedures.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, PCI, Gaming Control Boards).
Develop and maintain scripts for system and storage administration using CL and SQL.
Collaborate with application development, network, and security teams to ensure seamless integration.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience working with IBM i systems in an enterprise environment.
Proven experience in IBM i system architecture, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
Strong knowledge of IBM i operating system, CL programming, SQL, and DB2 for i.
Familiarity with Power Systems hardware and virtualization (PowerVM, HMC).
Experience with backup/recovery solutions and high availability (HA) technologies.
Experience with automation and monitoring tools.
Understanding of network concepts and protocols.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills. **Preferred Skills **
Previous experience with Mimix replication.
Experience with BRMS.
Experience with Robot Monitoring Tools.
Familiarity with best practices in IBM i environments.
Knowledge of modern integration techniques (e.g., APIs, web services) with IBM i.
