Drive safety policy implementation and reviews within R&E
Develop understanding of key DoW safety policies
Provide insight on safety policies' impact on warfighter capabilities
Lead safety-focused assessments
Support R&E Independent Technical Risk Assessments (ITRAs)
Provide recommendations to advance System Safety Engineering
Participate in and support activities of OUSW(R&E)
Prepare materials for Weapons Systems Review Boards
Requirements
BS degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline
Minimum of 11-12 years related engineering experience including emphasis on System Safety Engineering
Experience providing technical expertise working with DoW as a System Safety Engineer while applying MIL-STD-882E requirements and tasks to product lifecycle activities
One active professional certification, valid credential, or demonstrable combination of on-the-Job and coursework related to System Safety Engineering (desired)
Experience providing technical expertise in software safety engineering, fuze safety, munitions and energetics safety or test range safety (desired)
