Role Overview
- Researches and analyzes statutes, judicial decisions, legal articles, contracts, and legal codes
- Drafts, reviews, and negotiates contracts on behalf of the organization
- Prepares additional legal documents, such as memorandums and correspondence
- Informs the development of new Navitus legal changes and provides guidance on legal issues
- Provides legal counsel to Navitus’ staff members on the implications of their business objectives and ensures that all of Navitus’ staff are informed of applicable policies and practices
- Files legal documents and correspondence in digital and physical filing systems
- Develops processes for the effective indexing and filing of legal documents and managing contracts
- Provides support other departments as it pertains to contracts and business operations and regulatory affairs issues
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Completion of law degree, from ABA accredited program is preferred
- License to practice law required
- Some experience working in a law firm or in-house legal department required
- This position is hybrid must be able to come into the office 3-4 days a week in Madison WI
- Highly developed verbal and written communications skills to interact tactfully and effectively with others both internal and external to Navitus on sensitive and complex topics
- Ability to use a personal computer and possess advanced skills in software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
- Participate in, adhere to, and support compliance program objectives
- The ability to consistently interact cooperatively and respectfully with other employees
