Defining science-based project objectives, developing robust performance evaluation methodologies and creating technical solutions in support of the Advanced Concepts priority projects
Leading the performance evaluation processes for Advanced Concepts projects through validating research hypotheses and scientific POVs, testing both on athletes and in the laboratory
Discovering product insights through completing applied research on our mountain athletes and translating findings into innovative solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams
Creating new test methods and processes that translate testing in the mountains to testing in our laboratory and on materials
Building infrastructure so that testing protocols, data assessment and reporting is consistent, easily shared and centrally regulated
Advising on the most modern testing and analysis equipment for our Research and Engineering (R&D) function
Partnering with both academic and industry partners to bring in specialized expertise and equipment
Designing and fabricating novel test fixtures and equipment, to support in product performance validation
Collaborating across the Advanced Concepts and Product Creation teams
Partnering with AC leadership to maintain a robust Intellectual Property (IP) portfolio, proprietary solutions and exclusivity on materials projects within alignment with the Legal team
Partnering with the Innovation Operations team on R&D specific resourcing opportunities, including funding, academic and internship programs (SR&ED, IRAP, NRC, MITACS, and so forth)
Driving key initiatives to support the future of Arc’teryx with a focus on product circularity
Travelling across the local field as required, with potential to travel in collaboration with vendors and external partners
Requirements
You have a master’s degree in engineering or research, specializing in mechanical, biomedical, sports, biomechanics or kinesiology, or the equivalent experience, with 3+ years of technical apparel and/or equipment experience in product innovation, applied research, engineering and/or a performance validation environment
You have exceptional communication skills, including a proven ability to solicit and communicate findings to both scientists and nonscientists, with strong presentation skills
You have experience with experimental design, data collection and analysis, as well as dissemination of findings and you are comfortable presenting to all levels of leadership
You have experience working with athletes to create and execute performance validation strategies for technical products
You have a deep understanding of technical apparel and/or performance hardgoods design and/or production
You are energized by problem solving in the fields of applied human research, advanced manufacturing, and performance validation in both the athlete /science lab environments
You are experienced in identifying, creating and protecting IP with internal and external legal teams
You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
