Design and develop configurations for network and network security equipment used in Ovation industrial control system environments
Conduct research into emerging network and cybersecurity technologies and incorporate best practices into Emerson’s standard network solutions
Collaborate with software developers to automate the creation, deployment, and validation of network configurations
Partner with project and field engineers—many of whom may not be network specialists—to design, install, troubleshoot, and optimize networks and configurations
Create clear, accurate documentation for configurations, equipment installation procedures, and network design standards to support repeatable, high-quality delivery
Develop and execute test plans to validate network designs, configurations, and equipment compatibility, ensuring performance, reliability, and security
Test network and security designs in collaboration with engineering teams, helping others understand and apply secure networking practices
Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned, standardizing solutions, and supporting a culture of safety, integrity, and innovation
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or related Engineering discipline
5 years of experience in networking or industrial communications
Practical experience configuring network routers and switches, firewalls (including next-generation firewalls), VPNs, and related security/policy management components
Working knowledge of network security devices and methods, including secure communication practices, encryption, and protective architectures for industrial environments
Experience with routing and switching protocols to support redundant, fault-tolerant network topologies
Familiarity with LAN and WAN technologies (such as wireless, MPLS, and Metro Ethernet) and troubleshooting physical-layer issues involving copper and fiber-optic media
Demonstrated understanding of VPNs, secure communication methods, encryption, and PKI; experience with scripting or programming languages; and knowledge of network protocols (for example, STP, RSTP, and similar technologies)
Ability to work effectively in a diverse, global environment—collaborating with remote teams, operating independently when needed, and contributing as a reliable team member
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex network concepts in a clear and inclusive way, and the confidence to lead technical discussions or initiatives
Willingness to travel up to 10%
