About this role
Role Overview
The Senior Linux Systems Engineer is responsible for the technical architecture, planning, and implementation of enterprise Linux Systems across cloud, physical and virtual environments.
Evaluates and analyzes project requirements to determine feasibility for Linux deployments.
Develops specifications and action plans to implement new products to accommodate business needs.
Completes performance engineering to ensure high availability and reliability of critical Linux server infrastructure.
Oversees security compliance with configuration management, patch management, and version control.
Provides guidance, mentors staff and acts as technical escalation point for the team.
Utilizes a strong ability to troubleshoot, identifies Linux issues and performs Root Cause Analysis.
Works with Solution Architects and Application Owners/Developers to architect, configure, and deploy applications requiring Linux environment.
Generates innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.
Documents technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
Follows policies and procedures for change and incident management.
Stays current on industry trends and new technologies and recommends future initiatives.
Requirements
Advanced understanding of security concepts.
Demonstrated knowledge and previous experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, EBS, ECS, RDS, VPC, IAM).
Strong knowledge of server/storage hardware and protocols (NFS, CFS, CIFS, iSCSI).
High School or GED. (Required)
Minimum 8+ years of experience designing and supporting systems running Linux distributions such as Redhat, Ubuntu and/or CentOS. (Required)
Minimum 3+ years using Orchestration and Continuous Integration tools, (Terraform, Jenkins). (Required)
Minimum 4+ years of Virtualization (VMWare, Docker, Kubernetes). (Required)
Strong understanding of scripting tools such as Perl, Bash, PHP, etc. (Required)
Desired 2+ years of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform experience
Desired 3+ years of coding with Python
