Schedules and completes premium audits with policyholder contacts, either in-person or virtually, to determine accurate final premium for adjustable lines of insurance
Reviews policyholder financial records, including tax returns, payroll records, financial statements, journals, ledgers, and any other aspect of a business necessary to verify loss exposures and premium
Prepares detailed reports of audit findings, including correct loss exposures, classifications, and a detailed description of business operations to assist underwriting with risk assessment and insurance fraud discussions
Ensures audits are completed in accordance with departmental production, quality, and timeliness standards
Serves as a technical resource to both internal and external stakeholders, including agents, policyholders, underwriters, and others
Consults with agents and policyholders regarding the audit process and record-keeping procedures to comport with auditing guidelines and manual rules
Reviews classifications for new business submissions upon request to verify or correct classifications
Promotes the audit function for both internal and external stakeholders and educates agents and policyholders on additional products or services available at EMC
Reviews and resolves audit disputes, and communicates resolutions among agency, policyholder, underwriting, and accounting stakeholders
Stays up to date on industry regulations and best practices to support audit efficiency and effectiveness
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, insurance, or related business field or equivalent relevant experience
Strong math and accounting aptitude with attention to detail
Knowledge of property and casualty insurance industry and applicable Workers’ Compensation regulations and classifications preferred
Ability to analyze, research, and resolve audit issues
Excellent customer service skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as with others under minimal supervision
Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
Travel required; a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if driving
