You'll serve as the substation structural engineering lead, managing multiple projects from large-scale initiatives to smaller, complex designs.
You'll oversee the assessment, development, and execution of substation capital projects with financial and operational impact.
You'll perform structural engineering analysis, calculations, design, detailing, and CAD-supported drafting for substation facilities.
You'll mentor junior engineers, provide technical leadership, and conduct training sessions for colleagues and business partners.
You'll define structural engineering requirements, schedules, and deliverables while providing recommendations, reports, and project updates.
You'll conduct site visits for construction support, inspections, data collection, engineering analysis, and preparation of construction drawings.
You'll oversee design contractors to ensure quality and adherence to schedules, budgets, and project requirements.
You'll collaborate with clients, business partners, construction teams, permitting authorities, and management.
You'll travel throughout SCE’s service territory as needed.
You'll ensure compliance with cybersecurity, financial, and data protection standards.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
5+ years of experience in civil engineering with an emphasis on structural engineering
Valid Class C Driver's License
5+ years of technical design experience with electrical substation projects
5+ years of experience with Civil/Structural Engineering codes and standards, including ASCE 7, ACI 318, CBC, AISC 360, NDS, IEEE 693, and ASCE 113
3+ years of experience modifying engineering drawings using computer-aided drafting
Professional Engineer (PE) License in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineer (SE) License in California
Strong communication skills, with the ability to analyze information, present recommendations, and collaborate effectively
Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, or other design programs
