About this role
Role Overview
You’ll perform pre-engineering studies to support scoping, including system coordination evaluations, CT ratio evaluations, and protection requirements for project design.
You’ll conduct pre-engineering job walks (field visits) and collaborate with the Substation Electrical RE or Electrical DPE to finalize the scope of work.
You’ll review, design, and approve protection engineering drawing packages, including one-line diagrams, AC/DC elementary diagrams, and logic diagrams, ensuring compliance with design standards and project philosophy.
You’ll perform system modeling using tools like CAPE and CYME to conduct short circuit and protection coordination studies for relay settings.
You’ll prepare and issue relay settings for substation relays and field auto-reclosers and perform quality assurance reviews of protection deliverables.
You’ll provide field support for commissioning and in-servicing relay settings, including reviewing as-left relay setting files and communicating with test technicians for revisions.
You’ll collaborate with stakeholders, such as substation engineers, project managers, and test technicians, to support reliability and maintenance of the grid.
You’ll maintain and apply knowledge of NERC PRC compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to PRC-23, PRC-27, and PRC-26 standards.
You’ll develop and program relay settings for various protective devices, including microprocessor and electromechanical relays.
You’ll travel to field locations occasionally to support job walks or testing needs as required.
