Direct and oversee a comprehensive portfolio of public health programs, including: Communicable Disease Control, Environmental Public Health, Community Health Initiatives, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Vital Statistics
Manage resources effectively, including an annual operating budget of approximately $8.4 million and a dedicated team of 64 full-time staff.
Provide strategic direction to senior leadership and managers to ensure alignment with state and county objectives.
Advise County Administration, elected officials, and community partners on public health policies, emerging issues, and program development.
Foster partnerships with government agencies, private organizations, community stakeholders, and staff to strengthen public health infrastructure and outcomes.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations while promoting innovation and continuous improvement in service delivery.
Requirements
A preferred Director candidate is a physician that currently holds, or is eligible for, a Florida medical license (Chapters 458 or 459, Florida Statutes) and five years of administrative or management experience in public health, two of which must be supervisory.
A preferred Administrator candidate has a Master's degree in behavioral or social science, business administration, health administration, nursing, public administration, public health, or related field and five years of administrative or management experience in public health, two of which must be supervisory OR Bachelor's degree in one of the above fields and seven years of administrative or management experience in public health, two of which must be supervisory.
