Role Overview
- Administers respiratory care and life support to patients with abnormalities and deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system by prescription and under the supervision of a physician.
- Obtains physician's order prior to initiating therapy.
- Able to appropriately assess all patients before and after therapy is delivered.
- Sets up all routine therapy modalities according to policy and procedure.
- Able to set up and monitor all life support equipment according to policy and procedure.
- Able to set up and perform EKG's on patients in a timely fashion.
- Able to perform all POCT including controls, proficiencies and documentation.
- Maintain all State and Joint Commission requirements for licensing and accreditation.
Requirements
- Associate Degree
- Respiratory Therapy
- 3 Years Experience as Respiratory Care Practitioner
- 1 Year Experience in Pediatric Critical Care
- RT license in state of practice
- Certified Respiratory Therapist
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Preferred: Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
