Apply acquired knowledge of Liberty Utilities construction standards, Electrical Service Information and Requirements, and portions of the National Electric Code and National Electrical Safety Code to construction applications.
Read and interpret one-line diagrams, site plans and load information.
Perform analysis of electrical distribution design problems.
Effectively communicate with external customers, municipal and regulatory representatives, and contractors on a regular basis.
Conduct field meetings and advise customers in the proper application of their electric service.
Interact with internal departments and company employees to ensure an efficient overall process.
Promote a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and efficient resource utilization, both throughout the department and project teams.
Travel within region.
Participate in the training of employees.
Respond to emergency call out and work extended and planned hours when major company emergencies occur.
Assist with the securing of permits and licenses, and municipal/governmental requirements to complete designs and advance the project as needed.
Provide technical support to operate and maintain the electrical system.
Participation in customer and municipal/government meetings as the company's electric system representative.
Requirements
An Associates of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science from an accredited engineering or technological school is required.
Ability to follow prescribed standards and procedures.
Verbal and written communication skills
Ability to plan, schedule & coordinate multiple ongoing tasks.
Must be able to adjust to changing priorities and respond to requests in a timely fashion.
Must be comfortable using advanced technology for the purpose of gathering and transmitting field data.
Must have and retain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license which does not restrict hours of operation.
Must be able to work within confined areas at times and in inclement weather and temperature extremes
Knowledge of customer service techniques, strategies, and approaches.
Knowledge of electric theory and utility construction practices.
Ability to develop positive customer relations; anticipate, identify, respond to customer concerns and problems, in accordance with the job description and training.
Understanding of local municipality regulations and permit requirements.
Ability to learn/utilize the current Work Management Systems.
D.O.T. drug testing is a requirement for this position
