Maintaining and optimizing the site's automation systems, including PLC infrastructure, HMI interfaces, process instrumentation, valves, and motors.
Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and capital projects to enhance safety, product quality, efficiency, and equipment reliability in a fast-paced food and beverage manufacturing environment.
Ensure plant processes adhere to expected Safety and Quality standards and close gaps where necessary.
Support plant Safety and Quality programs and assist with root-cause investigations for incidents or equipment/process failures.
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the plant control (PLC) systems and equipment, including enhancement, troubleshooting, replacement, and maintenance strategies.
Ensure PLC/Industrial Control systems are operating reliably, includes maintaining program backups, spare parts, applying firmware updates, etc.
Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation enhancements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Quality, Maintenance) to implement improvements.
Analyze production data to recommend and execute control system modifications.
Provide automation expertise during the design, installation, and commissioning of new equipment and systems.
Develop functional specifications and control strategies for new projects.
Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure successful integration of automation systems.
Maintain documentation of PLC programs, network architecture, and control schematics.
Assist Engineering/Operations with troubleshooting and modifying PLC programs and systems.
Direct Maintenance team with developing and implementing preventative maintenance and spare parts inventory levels to support reliable operation of the controls equipment.
Requirements
Four (4) year B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
5+ years of experience in industrial automation, preferably in a process-heavy, food manufacturing facility
Proficiency in PLC programming (preferably Allen-Bradley)
Strong understanding of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, etc.)
Ability to wire, calibrate, and otherwise troubleshoot control devices (instruments, valves, VFDs, etc)
