Provide engineering support and procurement support on various sized engineering projects.
Assist the coordination of the execution of engineering, contracts and procurement, project controls activities for the project as well as home office support for construction activities.
Assist the Project Manager and/or Engineering Manager with the management of engineering team performance specific to all activities planned for a project (or group of projects).
Assist in coordination of cross discipline input into engineering deliverables and ensuring compliance with the Design Basis.
Assist in development and management of a plan for production of engineering documentation and specifications including computer-aided document production.
Review the work of the Discipline Leads in the preparation of technical specifications, designs, drawings and documents and ensure the quality of engineering and design.
Participate in key discussions, with respect to technical inquiries of scope clarification as well as provide input into progress reporting.
Monitor transmittals for internal and external documentation reviews and compliance with project requirements.
Responsible for creation of multidiscipline procurement packages. Coordinate between engineering and procurement on scope of work documentation, compiling and reviewing technical documents, preparing other required documentation for procurement including multi-discipline bid evaluation and clarifications.
Coordinate between engineering and estimating team for material take-offs, inclusions and exclusions, and other technical aspects.
Participate in the management of change process for the project by informing the necessary parties and preparing the necessary change management documentation.
Support the assessment of engineering and procurement progress within the overall project schedule and identify mitigations should actual and/or forecast schedule performance deviate from planned.
Assist in maintaining the look-ahead engineering schedule and work lists.
Monitor discipline progress and performance of the engineering scope and develop corrective action plans when required.
Interface with construction team as required to provide technical clarity.
Coordinate Requests for Information (RFIs) and review with Engineering Manager.
Participate in quality assurance audits.
Provide input to the identification of risks and supporting the management of risks.
Requirements
Registered Professional Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of relevant progressive experience on engineering or EPCM consulting projects.
Experience with engineering design, engineering progressing, procurement packages development, contract development, scope of work writing, EWP definition, key quantity management, change control, and scheduling/planning.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and able to work with people at all levels.
Must be able to demonstrate effective organizational skills and be able to work independently and effectively in a team environment.
Strong track record of successful project completion and experience in Mining and Mineral projects will be an advantage.
Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required.
Formal Project Management training would be considered an asset.
