Role Overview
- Review complex individual, partnership, S-corporation, and corporate tax returns prepared by internal and offshore staff
- Detect technical inaccuracies, compliance exposures, and overlooked tax planning opportunities
- Lead proactive tax planning initiatives to optimize client outcomes
- Oversee workflow efficiency and improve internal review systems
- Mentor and develop junior and remote team members
- Serve as a primary contact for clients on advanced tax matters
- Review and adjust QuickBooks financials to ensure tax accuracy and compliance readiness
- Collaborate with leadership to refine turnaround times and quality control standards
- Contribute to strategic decision-making and firm-wide process enhancements
Requirements
- 6–8+ years of public accounting tax experience
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and finalizing tax returns (not solely preparation)
- Strong technical proficiency in Canopy, Drake, and/or UltraTax (Thomson Reuters)
- Advanced working knowledge of QuickBooks
- Experience operating within smaller accounting firms preferred
- Strong analytical judgment and technical problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage responsibilities independently without heavy oversight
- Comfortable in a hybrid, process-driven environment
- Leadership mindset with focus on efficiency and scalable systems
- CPA license or active CPA eligibility (preferred)
- Experience supervising offshore or distributed teams (preferred)
- Background in small to mid-sized firms serving entrepreneurial clients (preferred)
- Prior exposure to workflow automation or system refinement initiatives (preferred)
