Participate in meetings and consultations with internal staff and external stakeholders to discuss project requirements and review processes
Stay updated on changes in building codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure accurate structural plan assessments
Collaborate with other departments, to address interdisciplinary aspects of plan reviews
Interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders, fostering positive and cooperative working relationships and promoting a culture of compliance and safety
Perform assigned duties within the supported agency’s guidance, culture, and approach
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Three years of increasingly responsible experience in structural design and/or plan checking or construction project management
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major work in structural engineering, civil engineering, architecture or a closely related field
Possession of a certificate of registration as a professional engineer in the State of California
Certification as a Residential and Building Plans Examiner, as issued by the International Code Council, is required
Strong knowledge of building codes, seismic design, and regulatory requirements
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication abilities, both written and verbal
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Proficiency in using computer-aided design (CAD) software, Blue Beam Revu and other plan review tools
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to inspection sites as required.
