Design and prepare City advertisements to be published in daily newspapers, community newspapers, periodicals and other print media;
Develop communication campaign concepts for various initiatives of the department responsible for communications;
Design and prepare production files, including creating posters, banners, advertising flyers, booklets, brochures, bookmarks, inserts, advertising messages and similar materials;
Prepare and submit graphic design files to the City's Print Services for printing (e.g., photocopy, digital or offset printing);
Design and produce electronic banners that will appear on ottawa.ca.
Requirements
Postsecondary education – completion of the second year of college or university studies in graphic design, communications, advertising or a related field.
Related experience of at least one year but less than two years required, in public or customer service, office work or the customer service sector.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other word processing and spreadsheet software is desirable.
Excellent knowledge of the OS X (Macintosh) operating system and software such as Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, QuarkXPress 6.0, Adobe Acrobat 7.0 and InDesign.
Knowledge of photocopying, digital and offset printing, as well as prepress processes.
