Ensure construction work is carried out according to plans, specifications, and safety standards
Take full responsibility for decisions, quality of work, and efficient use of contract time, equipment, and materials
Review and approve contract change orders, progress and final pay estimates, field reports, and related correspondence
Prepare detailed reports and conduct engineering investigations to ensure compliance with applicable laws, ordinances, standards, plans, and specifications
Assist the Construction Engineer with resolving construction contract claims
Make recommendations for contract acceptance based on project performance and quality
Ensure compliance with traffic control, environmental regulations, hazardous waste protocols, and stormwater pollution prevention standards
Assist in monitoring safety-related activities throughout the construction process
Oversee Traffic Management planning and implementation
Ensure compliance with labor and civil rights regulations related to the project
Coordinate project resources, including equipment, vehicles, office space, construction staking requests, and overtime
Ensure that project records are accurately maintained according to the Construction Manual or Project Manuals
Serve as the main point of communication with staff, technical personnel from outside agencies, contractors, and the public
Maintain frequent communication with City and County representatives, private contractors, and the traveling public
Effectively engage with contractor personnel, property owners, and internal team members to resolve project issues and facilitate smooth operations
Demonstrate strong communication skills essential for collaboration and successful project execution
Requirements
Bachelors degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
Registration as a California Professional Engineer (PE) is required
Approximately 10 years of experience in Construction Management, particularly on public works or transportation projects
At least 3 years of supervisory experience managing major construction contracts
Valid California Class C drivers license
Contractor experience (e.g., Project Manager, Superintendent, Engineer) is highly desirable
