Design and implement high-performance, scalable Python microservices and APIs that support our real-time AI agent framework
Build resilient distributed systems that maintain high availability and low latency at scale, supporting tens of thousands of concurrent connections
Architect robust data storage solutions across SQL, NoSQL, in-memory stores (Redis), and blob storage, understanding when to use each and how to orchestrate them
Implement message queuing systems and event-driven architectures for reliable inter-service communication
Build and maintain integrations with Epic EHR and other healthcare systems
Ensure HIPAA compliance and security in all system designs
Create monitoring and observability systems to ensure platform reliability
Take end-to-end ownership of backend features from design through deployment
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams through technical discussions and code reviews
Requirements
7+ years of backend engineering experience building scalable, distributed systems
Strong system design skills with demonstrated ability to architect solutions from scratch
Experience integrating with external systems and third-party APIs
Track record of independently owning and delivering complex technical projects
Comfort with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) for enhanced productivity
Experience with real-time, low-latency distributed systems at scale
Background in healthcare technology or regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC 2)
EHR integrations (Epic, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks) and healthcare system APIs
