Claims Representative Specialist – Commercial Property

Role Overview

• Provides prompt property claim investigation, evaluation and settlement or denial of claims with highly complex exposures
• Verify coverages and perform coverage investigations by gathering pertinent information
• Investigate losses and negotiate claims settlements with claimants and their legal representative within assigned authority limits
• Manage investigative process by taking recorded statements, obtaining investigative reports, evaluating damages or eligibility for benefits, and determining legal responsibility
• Prepare and present claims for discussion among the commercial claim leadership team as part of Sentry’s collaborative escalation process
• Maintain accurate documentation of investigative facts and decisions that occur during the investigation, evaluation, or resolution processes.
• Assist the claims team with training and providing technical claims knowledge

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of related work experience, property claim field experience highly preferred
• Through knowledge of insurance policies and coverages, claim payment procedures, insurance regulations, and familiarity with legal terminology
• Previous insurance experience and/or coursework.
• Possess strong analytical abilities to review, exercise judgement, and evaluate claims to make sound decisions
• Ability to review and interpret complex and detailed documents such as contracts, estimates, and insurance regulations
• Effective oral and written communication skills and human relations skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to pass required coursework applicable to job duties
• Ability to meet the travel requirements of the job to include business related assignments, with limited notice.
