The Network Engineer 2's primary duties include initial implementation of technical designs.
Primary duties include overseeing daily data center operations, leading teams of SmartHands technicians while ensuring consistent execution of standards, procedures, and best practices.
The role includes supervising facility operations such as power, cooling, cabling, and Colo assigned SmartHands services.
Ensures rapid incident response, drives up time and SLA compliance, and leads change control, root cause analysis, and long-term corrective actions.
Handle capacity planning by forecasting space, power, cooling, storage/network infrastructure.
Collaborating with facilities and engineering to support expansions or infrastructure upgrades.
Acting as a senior customer liaison, manage escalations, project work, and communication.
Additionally, oversee physical security, compliance with audit frameworks, and adherence to access control protocols.
Budget oversight, vendor coordination, inventory management, and procurement are also key responsibilities, along with continuous process improvement, adoption of monitoring and DCIM tools (Nlyte a plus).
Ensure environmental and safety compliance, lead emergency preparedness, and collaborate with cross functional teams to support strategic and operational initiatives.
Requirements
Associates Degree or relevant working experience
3+ years of related experience working within a production data center environment.
Professional working experience with Nlyte, or any other DCIM tool (Data Center Infrastructure Management).
Hands on experience with Microsoft Layers, (Excel, Word, Power Point, Visio, etc)
Cross functional work with all hardware engineering streams including mainframe, storage, compute, cyber security, network, data center vendors, and other hardware engineers.
Professional experience with ServiceNow, or other incident management tools.
Professional experience with reporting tools; building dashboards, or familiarity with data analytics for reporting purposes.
Advanced understanding of business technology drivers and their impact on architecture design
Advanced understanding of performance and monitoring
Proficient in more than one specific infrastructure technology
Advanced understanding of best practices and HNB policies
Advanced troubleshooting skills
Technical certifications as required, CCNP preferred.
Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) and ability to work both independently and in a group.
Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize.
