Perform skilled and safety-sensitive work in the construction, operation, maintenance, and repair of the village’s electric distribution system
Operate specialized vehicles and heavy equipment
Complete work orders
Respond to outages and emergencies
Support day-to-day electric utility operations
Work with high-voltage electrical equipment and infrastructure, including overhead and underground distribution lines, transformers, and associated appurtenances
Subject to mandatory on-call duty and emergency response at all hours
Requirements
High school diploma or GED
Valid Class A commercial driver’s license
At least eight years of experience in the electric line trade, or completion of an accredited lineman training program with documented experience
Experience performing high-voltage electrical work on distribution systems
Ability to climb utility poles and structures and successfully complete pole-top safety and rescue procedures
Ability to operate line trucks and heavy equipment, including bucket trucks, digger derricks, backhoes, track hoes and skid steers
Ability to pass required pre-employment drug screening and background checks
Availability for mandatory on-call rotation, including nights, weekends and holidays
Preferred: Journeyman Lineman certification or current enrollment in a Journeyman Lineman program; experience working in a municipal electric utility environment
