Monitor and analyze financial activity while providing informed financial advice to the Edmonton Region.
Prepare cost‑benefit assessments and business‑case analyses for expenditures.
Support the Finance Manager and Budget Officers by carrying out several key functions.
Review agency‑audited financial statements ensuring they meet audit standards and offer recommendations.
Prepare monthly invoices for Delegated First Nation Agencies and manage cost recoveries.
Complete general ledger coding corrections and run financial queries to identify errors.
Produce quarterly financial reports to highlight variances requiring attention.
Provide audit samples as requested by auditors.

University graduation in Business, Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Management or related field plus some related experience required; or equivalent (Related diploma plus 3 years directly related experience).
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience working with relevant financial information systems, reporting tools and software (e.g., Excel, ERP/SAP) and ability to manipulate data sets.
Experience preparing, reviewing and presenting financial statements.
Experience preparing briefing materials that translate financial data into meaningful information for decision makers.
Knowledge and understanding of completion of quarterly and year-end working papers for financial reporting purposes.
Solid understanding and experience with the application and research of accounting policies, practices and theories such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) is an asset.
Knowledge of the Government of Alberta's applicable legislation (e.g., Financial Administration Act, Fiscal Planning and Transparency Act, Government Organizational Act and Alberta Public Agencies Act).
Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and ability to interpret PSAS for the monitoring, recording, reporting and interpretation of financial information.
