Lead mechanical design activities for filament wound composite cases and solid propulsion systems and components
Conduct trade studies and develop component specifications and procedures as required
Develop test plans and technical reviews
Independently develop design concepts, 3D models and support the development of detailed drawings for the manufacture of parts
Support engineering drawing and specification updates at configuration change boards
Interact with component analysis, manufacturing, project engineering, quality and customer support groups
Plan and execute design tasks with limited general direction and work effectively within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment
Provide input to address nonconforming hardware, process planning, support production meetings, and work with supply chain to assure that design requirements are met
Prepare material and support engineering presentations for internal and external customers
Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior Mechanical Design experience
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior Mechanical Design experience
In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior Mechanical Design experience
Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is desired
Experience in filament wound composite pressure vessel design and manufacturing methods is preferred
Strong understanding of solid propulsion systems design is preferred
Knowledge and experience in strategic booster motors, tactical rocket motors, controllable solids systems is preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with CAD software tools (CREO), and PLM Systems (Windchill), engineering drawing and GD&T application experience is preferred
