Design levels that offer meaningful, engaging experiences, balancing challenge, reward, and player progression.
Work closely with other departments (art, programming, narrative) to integrate gameplay mechanics, visuals, and story into cohesive levels.
Organize and participate in playtesting sessions, analyzing player feedback to refine and optimize level designs.
Keep track of the level design’s progress, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and that any issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
Work closely with programmers and technical artists to ensure that levels are feasible within the game’s technical constraints.
Requirements
5–7 years of game design experience with a strong focus on FPS level design.
Participation in at least two AAA titles and a strong portfolio with polished, well‑structured levels.
Deep understanding of gameplay systems, mechanics, narrative design, and player psychology, with the ability to balance difficulty and pacing.
Experience with scripting and advanced tools to create dynamic, interactive environments.
Ability to collaborate effectively with art, programming, sound, and narrative teams; strong communication and receptiveness to feedback.
Solid time‑management skills, ability to work with deadlines, and iterate based on testing and feedback.
Experience designing levels across multiple genres and building immersive environments through environmental storytelling.
Knowledge of Unreal, Unity, CryEngine, or proprietary engines; strong scripting/programming skills for events, triggers, and AI behaviors.
Ability to motivate and support the team, mentor junior designers, and provide constructive feedback.
Proactive problem-solving and flexibility in handling various design challenges (combat, narrative, puzzles).
Strong conflict-resolution skills and the ability to maintain a positive, productive team environment.
