Role Overview
- Design and build scalable, high-performance backend services in Java
- Own platform components — service infrastructure, APIs, internal tooling, and reliability
- Drive architecture decisions for distributed systems and microservices
- Collaborate with product and data teams to build robust integrations
- Improve observability, performance, and resilience of core platform services
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with Java as your primary language
- Deep understanding of platform and distributed systems engineering
- Strong grasp of microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, and async messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, etc.)
- Solid understanding of system design, scalability, and production reliability
- Currently working at a product-based organisation
- Strong ownership mindset
