About this role
Role Overview
Responsible for the mechanical engineering design work on assigned projects
Serve as lead engineer on all size projects maintaining responsibility for deliverable development
Coordination with the mechanical piping design team to direct completion of engineering drawings
Multi-discipline collaboration on the development of equipment general arrangements, P&ID’s, isometrics, asset and tie-in lists, orthographic, etc.
Provides technical expertise for risk assessments, due diligence and other studies presenting complex technical solutions to clients.
Generate applicable mechanical engineering deliverables to support all phases of scope development – Feasibility through Detail Design
Develop construction and equipment specifications and material requisitions
Home office support of projects during construction, start-up, and commissioning
Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others
Participate in project and client meetings
Interact with vendors, regulatory agencies and contractors
Assist with internal and external presentations
Occasional travel to client and/or project sites
Requirements
BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Experience in Mechanical Engineering for Power Generation Facilities
Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (preferred)
12+ years of experience with Power Generation Facilities (preferred)
5+ years of experience as project technical mechanical lead/mechanical engineer of record (preferred)
Experience in engineer and design of Combined Cycle Plants and Nuclear Generation Stations (preferred)
Expert familiarity with industry codes and standards (API, ASME, PIP, ANSI, ASTMs, etc) (preferred)
Expert experience with specifying mechanical equipment (e.g. rotating and static equipment) and piping material specifications (preferred)
Familiarity with diverse metallurgy (preferred)
Startup and Commissioning Field Experience (preferred)
Strong experience with engineering software packages: Thermoflow package, Hysys, Caesar II, Pipe-Flo (or other hydraulic modeling application), AspenTech applications and/or Applied Flow Technology applications (preferred)
Experience working in collaborative model environments (e.g. Navisworks, BIM 360) (preferred)
Demonstrated experience in participating in complex, multi-discipline programs/projects (preferred)
Successful experience working in remote and multi-discipline teams (preferred)
