The Accountant supports month-end close and financial reporting initiatives for the Finance Team.
Under the direction of the Controller, this role assists with preparing monthly financial statements, completing balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting close-related analysis.
This role also supports Project Operations by partnering with Project Managers, Procurement, and Operations to ensure accurate project financial setup, documentation, and project accounting support—especially as it relates to billing readiness and project reporting.
Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts monthly; investigate and resolve variances.
Perform general ledger accounting activities including journal entries, account analysis, and supporting schedules.
Support month-end and year-end close, including tie-outs, accruals, and reporting deliverables.
Prepare and/or support Percent of Completion (POC) calculations, month-end WIP review, job profitability analysis, and revenue forecasting support.
Assist with audit requests and preparation of documentation for insurance renewals and insurance audits.
Support internal controls, policy compliance, and process improvements related to accounting workflows.
Support ERP or project accounting system implementations/upgrades, including testing, training support, and process documentation.
Coordinate with Project Managers, Procurement, and Operations to collect, validate, and organize billing support from Procore and other systems to enable timely and accurate invoicing.
Support preparation of progress billings, retainage tracking, and lien waiver/document coordination.
Ensure complete and organized project documentation to support internal review, audits, and final billings.
Assist with Prevailing Wages calculations, certified payroll reporting support, and project-level compliance tracking when required.
Work with procurement to maintain documentation for customer tax exemptions and project tax treatment.
Assist project managers with project close-out to ensure required documentation is collected for final billing and retainage release.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field, required.
3-8+ years of accounting experience required.
Project accounting experience preferred (field services or construction industry a plus).
Experience with ERP implementation is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to translate financial details for non-finance partners.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
Solid knowledge of general accounting and understanding of GAAP.
Strong sense of ownership, curiosity, and initiative; comfortable working independently and cross-functionally.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and accounting/ERP systems; ability to learn new tools quickly.
Experience with OneStream for financial reporting & Procore or similar project management system is a plus.
Revenue recognition experience on Project based percent of completion in field services/ construction environment
