The Business Intelligence Analyst (Analyst) plays a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making at the BCER by developing, maintaining, and enhancing Business Intelligence (BI) tools, dashboards, and reporting capabilities.
The role is responsible for extracting, integrating, and validating data from multiple sources, ensuring its accuracy and reliability, and supporting both operational and strategic needs across the organization.
The Analyst contributes to advanced analytics and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) initiatives by preparing datasets, building prototypes, and collaborating with data science teams to deliver predictive insights.
In addition, the Analyst provides training and guidance to business users, promotes adoption of self-service analytics, and supports data governance, quality management, and integration efforts.
This role requires strong analytical skills, solid technical expertise in BI and data practices, and the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights.
Requirements
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a relevant field, such as Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, or Computer Science, and a minimum of four years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience writing SQL queries to gather and analyze data from various data sources, including Relational Database Management Systems (e.g.: Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server).
Demonstrated experience working in an operational Business Intelligence (BI) environment, including data analysis and reporting, developing BI capabilities, and providing user support.
Demonstrated experience supporting advanced analytics or collaborating with data science teams.
Demonstrated experience with data modeling, Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes, database design, and metadata management.
Demonstrated experience conducting research, analysis, and preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings effectively.
Demonstrated experience in Agile project management and communicating complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
Demonstrated experience applying AI/ML techniques (e.g.: regression, classification) and exposure to predictive analytics or advanced modeling projects.
Demonstrated experience applying knowledge of data governance, quality management practices, and enterprise data standards.
Preference may be given to those with exposure to cloud data environments (e.g.: Azure), data virtualization, or orchestration tools.
