Load Rating and Design Engineer

Role Overview

• Ensure the safety and reliability of Florida’s bridge infrastructure through complex load ratings, structural analyses, and field inspections
• Provide engineering expertise for bridge repair and rehabilitation projects
• Oversee project scopes and costs
• Ensure construction aligns with standards
• Maintain a safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation network

Requirements

• Registration as a Professional Engineer in accordance with Florida Statute 471
• Two years of post-registration experience in bridge design or load rating
• Knowledge of concepts, terminology and principles of road and bridge, design, construction and maintenance
• Skills in structural analysis as related to bridge design
• The use of various structural analysis software
• The use of Florida Department of Transportation design documents (structures manual, design standards, plans preparation manual, load rating manual)
