About this role
Role Overview
Compiles data sets for research projects using R.
Downloads data from data warehouses and compiles data from other sources for analysis in spreadsheets (such as Excel) or statistical or specialized software (such as R).
Compiles and maintains databases from internal and external sources and updates regularly published reports and analyses.
Proofs and audits data for accuracy, reasonableness, and suitability.
Identifies outliers and other anomalous patterns and brings these to the attention of the Vice President, Research.
Performs more complex research, statistical and other analyses under guidance of the Vice President, Research.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, data science, economics or a related field
Completion of at least one Casualty Actuarial Society examination or comparable educational experience
At least one year of experience in an office environment or a prior Actuarial internship preferred
Proficiency in programming with SQL, R or Python
Proficiency in at least two of the following three areas: applied statistics, economics and finance (beyond a college sophomore level), or programming (in a language such as R, Python or C++)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Excellent oral and written English skills including the ability to understand complex and nuanced instructions in preparing research databases
Ability to clearly communicate findings, issues, and recommendations to co-workers.
Strong listening and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively on projects.
Able to work independently with occasional supervision.
