About this role
Role Overview
Integrate and customize open-source firmware solutions (OpenBMC, Coreboot) for our server infrastructure
Develop and maintain embedded software components using Python and C/C++
Build and manage custom Linux distributions for embedded systems using the Yocto Project
Implement and optimize hardware management APIs such as Redfish and IPMI
Design and execute automated test suites for firmware validation
Maintain robust CI/CD pipelines via Git for firmware builds and deployments
Collaborate with diverse technical profiles, including hardware specialists, SREs, and developers
Contribute directly to Scaleway’s global Open Hardware strategy
Monitor and address cybersecurity vulnerabilities specifically related to embedded systems
Participate in Agile ceremonies to drive project transparency and efficiency
Requirements
3 to 5 years of experience in embedded systems or firmware development
Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and the Yocto Project
Hands-on experience with OpenBMC, UEFI/Coreboot, and hardware architectures (x86, ARM, or RISC-V)
Solid understanding of hardware management protocols (Redfish, IPMI) and low-level communication
Experience with modern software quality practices, including Git, code reviews, and CI/CD
Strong collaborative mindset with the ability to work across hardware and software teams
Excellent synthesis skills and ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly
Creativity and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a "from scratch" project context
Autonomy and discipline to drive specific side projects while remaining a team player
