Assistant or Associate Professor of Communication, Strategic Communication

Role Overview

• Demonstrate excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service
• Teach four courses per semester across the areas of communication, strategic communication, strategic media, journalism, and debate
• The ability to contribute to the management and advising of the debate team or student newspaper is a plus
• Teach at the undergraduate and graduate level courses in both face-to-face and virtual modalities
• Advising undergraduate and graduate students
• Connect students with and review internship opportunities
• Engage in scholarly research, presentations, and publications and in professional development activities
• ORU is a teaching university with an active research agenda encouraged
• Be involved in university activities such as faculty meetings, committee meetings, retreats, and chapel services
• Additional skills and experience in debate coaching, event planning, grant writing, nonprofit management, and philanthropy may elevate one's candidacy

Requirements

• A Ph.D. in Communication or terminal degree in a closely related discipline is preferred
• ABD candidates may also be considered
• Integrating a Spirit-empowered Christian faith in the classroom
• Have a demonstrated history of or potential for successful and excellent teaching and student engagement
