Lead grid integration analysis and interconnection studies to support distributed generation scale solar, solar/storage, and stand-alone storage projects
Evaluate grid capacity, constraints, and interconnection feasibility across multiple states and utility territories
Collaborate with utilities, ISOs, and regulatory agencies to navigate interconnection processes and ensure compliance with applicable NERC, FERC, and local grid requirements
Support the design, modeling, and optimization of transmission and distribution infrastructure for renewable energy projects
Analyze power flow, stability, and grid congestion to identify risks and mitigation strategies for project development
Assess grid interconnection impacts on project feasibility and financial modeling
Provide technical expertise on grid interconnection requirements, transmission/distribution planning, and regulatory approvals
Support site acquisition with information on grid capacity
Develop single and three-line diagrams
Maintain knowledge tariffs and technical standards at the utility scale projects
Analyze feasibility, system impact and facility studies for cost reductions and potential schedule acceleration
Negotiate system upgrade alternatives for cost, and timelines
Negotiate Interconnection Service Agreements
Perform site visits periodically over the course of the projects
Track technological advancements and drive adoption, as applicable
Support pre-construction team with interconnection requirements
Support construction team with equipment changes and utility schedules
Requirements
6-8+ years of relevant DG grid connection experience
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; Master’s degree in electrical engineering or relevant power-related field preferred
Strong understanding of distribution and transmission systems and grid interconnection processes, including power flow analysis, stability studies, and congestion management
Experience working with ISOs/RTOs and utilities on interconnection applications, distribution planning, transmission planning, and regulatory compliance (NERC, FERC, PUCs)
Proficiency with modeling and analysis tools (e.g., PSSE, PSCAD, PowerWorld, or similar) to assess project feasibility and grid impact
Strong analytical capabilities
