Be the main decision maker for long term technical architecture decisions, from smart contracts to infrastructure and engineering processes
Establish platform abstractions and boundaries to enable rapid iteration without compromising architecture
Be the ultimate reviewer for all engineering design docs and architecture docs
Drive end-to-end delivery from design through launch and iteration
Implement and enforce engineering processes: planning, estimation, incident response, post-mortems and continuous improvement
Ensure systems meet high SLAs, security standards and regulatory requirements
Lead and develop engineers and engineering managers and help the transition into an AI native team
Build a culture of ownership, learning, psychological safety and high performance
Design leveling, growth paths, feedback and review systems
Coordinate with HR to define and execute recruiting, interviewing and onboarding processes for all engineering
Collaborate with Product and Developer Relations to deliver high-quality APIs, SDKs, documentation, sandbox environments and integration tooling
Engage with strategic customers (fintechs, enterprises) to support deep integrations, onboarding and scaling
Work closely with Compliance, Risk and Legal to ensure regulatory output is reflected in architecture and product design
Partner with Go-To-Market and Finance teams to support product positioning, pricing, and strategic growth
Represent engineering in board/investor conversations when needed
Requirements
10 years of coding experience (professionally, or hacking at home)
Proven experience managing teams of at least 25 engineers
Proven track record leading teams in critical payments or fintech infrastructure, where an engineering mistake can be existential for the company
Polymath with problem solving skills of at least national math or programming olympiad level.
Ability to get really deep in any technical conversation, to be able to effectively review any design doc from the company (leveraging AI, if needed)
Up to date with all the latest agentic coding tools (claude code/Codex/…)
Proven track record building and operating large-scale backend systems, ideally in payments, fintech or crypto infrastructure
Ability to hire, mentor and grow high-performing engineering teams
Good communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
