About this role

Architect & Build: Lead the development of scalable backend services using Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, and OpenSearch.
Own Performance: Optimize database queries, caching, and infrastructure to ensure lightning fast responses at scale
Lead & Mentor: Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and help grow the backend engineering culture.
Deploy & Operate: Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines; own the uptime and reliability of our backend services.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with product, design, and front-end teams to deliver features that meet user needs and agency constraints.
Security & Compliance: Help maintain data integrity and secure access controls in alignment with CJIS and other compliance requirements.

6+ years of backend development experience, including experience scaling production applications.
Deep expertise in Python.
Strong experience with AWS (especially RDS/PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Lambda, ECS).
Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL alike.
Familiarity with CI/CD best practices
Experience designing for security, fault tolerance, and observability.
Prior startup or mission-critical environment experience strongly preferred.
Bonus: Experience working with or around public safety, govtech, or regulated environments.
