Oversee financial controlling activities primarily for the Maltese legal entities, ensuring compliance with both local and group reporting requirements.
Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
Support the group consolidation process by preparing high-quality reporting packages and analysis.
Maintain and continuously enhance a robust internal control framework that mitigates financial and operational risks across Gentoo Media.
Implement and enforce accounting policies and procedures to uphold financial integrity and operational efficiency.
Provide strong technical accounting insights, including IFRS guidance and impact assessments for new standards or business transactions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes, systems, and reporting quality.
Prepare ad-hoc analysis, management reports, and recommendations to support strategic and operational decision-making.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
A recognized accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CMA) is preferred but not required
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in financial controlling, audit, or similar roles
Experience in a multinational environment or media/technology industry is an advantage
Proven track record working with IFRS and complex reporting structures
Knowledge in Maltese tax
Strong IFRS knowledge and ability to apply standards to practical business scenarios
Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools
Experience with ERP systems; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is preferred but not required
Strong understanding of internal controls, financial processes, and consolidation principles
Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines
Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal
Excellent English communication skills
Proactive, self-driven, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively
