Translate catastrophe model insights into actionable underwriting and pricing strategies
Lead cross-functional initiatives
Serve as the organizational quarterback for initiatives across underwriting, actuarial, reinsurance, analytics, and product teams
Lead complex initiatives that strengthen portfolio resilience and growth
Align business groups on strategy and drive execution through influence and collaboration
Drive portfolio risk management
Monitor catastrophe exposure and total insured values across geographies and perils
Develop strategies to manage accumulation risk and improve portfolio diversification
Project manage implementation of underwriting guidelines, product changes, and operational controls that support risk objectives
Turn analytics into business decisions
Interpret catastrophe model outputs and communicate their practical implications
Drive organizational understanding on the impacts of inflation and macroeconomic trends to our total insured values and manage insurance-to-value of the book
Team with reinsurance, actuarial, and capital management teams to evaluate catastrophe exposure and loss volatility
Leverage catastrophe risk capabilities
Find opportunities to improve catastrophe risk monitoring, reporting, and decision frameworks
Lead initiatives such as improved accumulation management tools, coastal underwriting rules, or portfolio diversification programs
Stay ahead of Insurance industry trends related to catastrophe risk, climate impacts, and emerging modeling approaches
Serve as a catastrophe risk subject matter expert
Provide guidance to internal business leaders on catastrophe risk implications and portfolio management strategies
Communicate complex risk insights clearly to leadership and cross-functional teams
Shape strategy by defining acceptable concentration risk thresholds and determining the markers for long-term success of our personal lines property book.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, risk management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
8+ years of experience in personal lines insurance product management, underwriting, catastrophe risk management, or related roles
Strong understanding of catastrophe modeling outputs and how they inform insurance pricing, underwriting, and portfolio management decisions
Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives through influence rather than direct authority
Experience developing strategies that balance growth, profitability, and catastrophe risk exposure
Strong analytical and financial evaluation skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into business decisions
Ability to operate across both strategic and tactical levels of a project
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences
Strong organizational and project leadership capabilities with experience driving initiatives from concept through execution
Solid understanding of insurance product mechanics, underwriting strategy, and portfolio management
Ability to travel as needed for role, including divisional / team meetings, industry events, and other in-person meetings.
