Senior Backend Engineer

Role Overview

• Lead and participate in the design, development, and maintenance of backend systems and APIs.
• Architect and implement robust backend solutions capable of handling increasing user loads and evolving business requirements.
• Maintain high coding standards, conduct thorough code reviews, and ensure best practices for maintainability and readability.
• Identify system bottlenecks and optimize code and algorithms to improve overall performance.
• Implement monitoring and debugging tools to identify and resolve issues proactively, ensuring high system availability.
• Develop comprehensive test suites—including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests—to ensure backend reliability.
• Provide guidance to junior developers to foster technical growth within the team.
• Document code, APIs, and technical processes to facilitate knowledge sharing and streamline onboarding.

Requirements

• Candidates must be located in the EMEA or APAC regions.
• Strong professional experience with TypeScript and Node.js is required.
• Proven experience working with the Stellar network in production environments.
• Previous experience in the blockchain space with a technical understanding of the EVM ecosystem (or other blockchain environments). Familiarity with Stellar’s Soroban smart contracts is a significant plus.
• Extensive professional experience in a similar role at a senior or lead level.
• Solid understanding of document databases (MongoDB), caching mechanisms (Redis), and system architecture design.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a proactive manner.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science is considered a plus.
• Very strong written and verbal English skills for effective stakeholder communication.
