Role Overview
Create engaging, authentic, and platform-optimized content including graphics, threads, carousels, and reactive content in partnership with issue and communications leads
Produce platform-native content that encourages participation, conversation, and sharing
Translate complex policy and democracy reform topics into accessible, compelling digital storytelling
Lead creative direction for content produced by external design and editing partners
Provide raw footage and creative briefs to external partners for polished video production
Produce quick-turn video content for real-time response and timely opportunities
Ensure accuracy and message alignment while maintaining speed and relevance
Maintain a steady cadence of interactive and community-centered posts
Conduct daily social listening and trend monitoring to identify real-time engagement opportunities
Actively engage with followers, partners, and influencers through replies, comments, and quote responses
Manage DMs, mentions, and notifications with a community-first approach
Participate in relevant online conversations to expand visibility and credibility
Surface community feedback and sentiment trends to the communications team
Build relationships with key voices and creators in online spaces relevant to Issue One's work
Execute social media strategy across platforms (X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and emerging channels) within the framework set by the VP of Communications
Continuously test formats, timing, and distribution tactics to improve performance
Track performance metrics and identify what content drives engagement and reach
Identify new platform features and trends and integrate them into content execution
Provide regular performance insights to the VP and Communications Coordinator
Adapt content approach based on what's working and what's not
Work with the Communications Coordinator to ensure social content aligns with the broader communications calendar
Provide content to the Communications Coordinator for scheduling and posting
Collaborate with policy, campaigns, and citizen engagement teams to identify content opportunities
Flag emerging rapid response moments for the other members of the communications team and partner with the VP on rapid response content needs
Coordinate with external design and editing partners on production timelines and deliverables
Requirements
3-5+ years of experience in digital communications, social media management, content creation, or advocacy communications
Demonstrated experience managing organizational social media accounts across platforms such as X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and emerging channels
Strong experience creating platform-native content (video, graphics, threads, carousels, etc.) in fast-paced or rapid-response environments
Proficiency in digital content creation tools, including video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve) and graphic design platforms (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
Ability to translate complex policy, political, or advocacy topics into accessible, engaging digital storytelling for broad audiences
Ability to manage and grow social media platforms using platform-specific best practices, audience insights, and content optimization strategies
Experience leveraging AI-powered tools to support content ideation, drafting, editing, performance analysis, and platform management while maintaining authentic voice and accuracy
Strong understanding of social media algorithms, trends, and content distribution strategies to maximize organic reach and engagement
Ability to track, analyze, and apply performance metrics using platform analytics tools to continuously improve content and strategy
Experience monitoring trends and producing real-time, rapid-response content aligned with fast-moving news cycles
Ability to provide clear creative direction and manage workflows with external partners (designers, video editors, agencies) to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables
Strong community management skills, including engaging with audiences through comments, DMs, and influencer outreach in a professional, mission-aligned voice
Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to adapt tone, ensure accuracy, and maintain message clarity across formats and platforms
Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and content streams simultaneously
Ability to collaborate effectively with coordinators, external partners, and cross-functional teams to align digital content with broader communications strategies
