About this role
Role Overview
As a Software Development Manager, you are a valued member of our development team.
You’ll hold a pivotal people-first position, reporting directly to the CTO.
Your mission isn't to write code or architect systems; it’s to support the people who do.
You will lead a diverse group of 10–15 FTEs (e.g., Frontend’s, QA’s, etc.), acting as a dedicated coach to foster a thriving engineering culture that mixes hard and soft skills.
Optimize Developer Experience (DX): Take a proactive role in reviewing and refining our software engineering processes to remove friction and make our devs' lives easier.
Drive innovation as an AI evangelist: Act as a key advocate for AI and agentic-supported coding, helping the team embrace and integrate modern tools to work smarter.
Bridge strategy and execution: Keep a keen eye on the overall roadmap and planning, working across teams to spot (in)efficiencies and ensure our engineering engine is running smoothly.
Cultivate visibility: Support developers in improving their communication and "internal brand," ensuring their hard work is recognized and aligned with the company’s goals.
Requirements
Leadership background: You are likely a former Developer or Technical Team Lead who made the conscious, passionate choice to step into a people management position.
Coaching skills: Proven experience in mentoring diverse roles; you know that managing a QA specialist requires a different approach than coaching a Development specialist.
Technical literacy: While you won't be coding, you have a solid grasp of the .NET ecosystem and various frontend frameworks (Vue.js, React, etc.).
Operational context: A conceptual understanding of AWS infrastructure and Azure DevOps pipelines, so you can speak the team's language and understand their blockers.
Forward-thinking mindset: You are open to AI-driven development tools and modern methodologies that can support and empower our developers' daily work.
Strong communication skills: Professional proficiency in English is required; a strong command of Dutch is a big plus.
